About this call
The City of Charlottetown invites practicing artists and creators who reside in Charlottetown or Epekwitk/Prince Edward Island to submit images of past work for a public art project. An independent jury will recommend four artists, each of whom will work with the City's project team on a new original artwork that is printed as a vinyl wrap and installed on a traffic control cabinet at an intersection in Charlottetown, displayed for up to five years. There is no theme; designs should be vibrant and bold. Selected artists are chosen on existing or past work and are paid $1,500 (plus HST if applicable); the City covers printing and installation.

- Open to all artists who reside in Charlottetown or Epekwitk/Prince Edward Island; artists who identify as Mi'kmaq, Indigenous, BPOC, 2SLGBTQI+ and/or people with disabilities are encouraged to apply, and the Arts Advisory Board may commission one of the four artists at its discretion to meet its equity commitments. Submit through the online form by 11:59 p.m. local time on November 16, 2026: contact information (and whether you charge HST); an artist statement of max. 250 words; up to five high-res images of original past work (JPEG, PNG, GIF or PDF), not sketches or concepts for the cabinets; a list of works with file name, title, date and medium; optional self-identification. Late submissions are not considered. Selected artists sign an agreement with the City, must be available for up to two meetings during the winter, may need to drop off or pick up artwork in the Charlottetown area for scanning, and complete the final design before March 12, 2027. Applicants are notified in December 2026 and the wraps are printed and installed in summer 2027. Ownership and copyright of submitted work stay with the artist. The $1,500 covers the artist's fee, meeting time, travel and parking, a licence to use the final artwork and materials. The page does not mention an application fee.
