PICTURE STORM: A Call for Works About Image Overload

About this call

PICTURE STORM is a call for works of art about multiplicity, reproduction, excess, archives, records, overload, and how we navigate a world that feels overfull of visual information. Selected works will be shown at Manifest Gallery in Cincinnati, Ohio, from January 22 to February 19, 2027, as part of Manifest's 23rd season. Entries are juried by an anonymous panel of professional and academic advisors, and the exhibit curator makes the final selection from the jury-approved pool. All traditional and non-traditional media are accepted.

Who can apply

• Medium: Mixed Media
• Entry fee: $45
• Open to everyone internationally; entries must be original works that address the theme. All media, no size limit beyond what fits the gallery, no limit on when the work was made. Fee: $45 for up to three entries, $5 for each additional entry, non-refundable, paid by US check or money order or by PayPal; number of entries is unlimited. Submit the online entry form, then upload JPEG images (at least 1000 pixels in every direction, 72 dpi) to the project Dropbox; video works need a viewing link plus one JPEG. Notifications by December 14, 2026; selected work must arrive ready to install by January 16, 2027. Artists pay all shipping to and from the gallery, with return shipping prepaid. Manifest keeps a 30% commission on sales; works may be listed as not for sale. After submitting, do not commit the work to conflicting exhibitions or sell it. Extra, detail or installation images whose file name lacks the word "detail" count as separate entries and are charged as such. Sale price and status cannot be changed after the deadline. Works are insured only on gallery premises; works not claimed within 30 days of the end of the exhibit become Manifest's property.
