Open Call: W139 hosts… 2027

About this call

W139 hosts… is an eight-week programme at the independent art space W139 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, running from 26 February until 25 April 2027. Artists, designers, collectives, local initiatives, mediators and communities are invited to test new projects, present work-in-progress and engage with the artistic community in Amsterdam. Proposals can include new works, work-in-progress, experiments, durational pieces, installations, performances, screenings, sound works, workshops, gatherings, rehearsals and informal presentations. Projects are shown for one week (Wednesday to Sunday); time-based works can be proposed for shorter periods. Selection is made by the W139 team with two artists, based on the project, whether W139 suits it and how the applicant would benefit; career stage does not matter. Results are communicated by 11 December 2026 at the latest.

• Write the proposal yourself, without AI; incomplete proposals will not be considered. Projects must be plug and play or easy to install within the build-up time, feasible with W139's resources, and work alongside other projects shown at the same time. You must be present for build-up (Tuesday) and break-down (the following Monday), 10:00 to 16:00, clean the space and leave it as found. Bring your own equipment; W139 has no storage space. Drilling, painting or installing on walls must be agreed beforehand and restored afterwards. Equipment must comply with Dutch health and safety regulations; W139 is not liable for damage or theft. Being present during the project week is appreciated but not mandatory.
