About this call

Gasworks in London, United Kingdom, offers an eleven-week, fully funded residency from 7 April to 22 June 2027 for an early-career contemporary visual artist based in Argentina, supported by ERA Foundation and developed in partnership with URRA. The residency is self-led and process-based: the artist researches and develops new work, engages with the city and builds a network, with administrative, pastoral and curatorial support from Gasworks. The selected artist receives a private studio with 24-hour access, a single room in the shared Residency House, economy return flights and taxi transfers from Argentina, all visa costs, a weekly stipend of £175, a materials budget of up to £800, a prepaid travel card for central London (TfL zones 1 and 2), studio visits and an Open Studio presentation on 12 June.

Who can apply

  • Domestic applicants
  • Medium: Drawing / Installation / Mixed Media / New Media / Painting / Performance / Photography / Printmaking / Sculpture / Textile / Video
  • Entry fee: See official site
  • Open to early-career contemporary visual artists based in Argentina; artists studying outside Argentina who have a permanent address there are eligible. Applicants should have at least a moderate level of spoken English and feel comfortable discussing their work in English; the application may be written in their native language, but the online interview for the 3 to 5 shortlisted artists is in English. Individual artists only, no duos or collectives, and partners or children cannot be accommodated (artists may bring family if they arrange that travel and accommodation themselves). Artists who have not had the opportunity to work or study in London before are prioritised. The dates cannot be changed, and the artist is asked to be present for the full residency (tell Gasworks in the application about any exceptional circumstances). Apply through the online form on the opportunity page with one PDF under 15MB: a cover sheet (legal name, address, email, phone, website or social media), a 250-word statement on your practice, a 250-word residency plan (both statements may be given as linked sound or video files instead), up to 15 images or video/sound clips of recent work with captions (up to 100 words per artwork), and a CV of no more than 3 pages.
