ARMATURE: A Call for Works About Structure

About this call

Manifest Gallery in Cincinnati, Ohio, United States, invites works for ARMATURE, a call for works about the skeletal systems that underpin everything: sketches, blueprints, designs and plans, and the physical and conceptual supports beneath what we do and create. Works may themselves be structural, may depict or examine structure, or may explore the visible evidence, effects or results of underlying structures, and artists' own interpretations of the theme are welcome. The call is open to everyone internationally in all traditional and non-traditional media. Every exhibiting artist receives a $50 honorarium, one work in this exhibition period wins a $1,000 Grand Jury Award, and the exhibition runs January 22 to February 19, 2027.

• Entry fee: $45
• Open to everyone internationally; entries must be original works that address the theme. All traditional and non-traditional media; no size limit beyond what fits the gallery's spaces, walls and door; no limit on when the work was made. Entry fee: $45 for up to three entries, $5 per additional entry, non-refundable, paid by U.S. check or money order to MANIFEST or by credit card via PayPal; number of entries unlimited, and an entry is one artwork regardless of the number of images. Submit the online entry form by November 1, 2026 (checks must be postmarked by the deadline), then upload JPEG images (at least 1000 pixels in any direction, 72 dpi) to the project Dropbox, named Lastname_Firstname_number; detail images must include the word "detail" or they are charged as separate entries. Video or interactive works need a link to the full-length work that requires no login, plus one JPEG still. Only the most recent entry form is kept. Submitting the form commits you to send the fee and to ship or deliver the work if selected; do not double-book, commit or sell the works before the jury results. Notifications by December 14, 2026; hi-res images of accepted work are needed by December 21, 2026; selected work may be hand delivered or shipped and must arrive ready to install by January 16, 2027; work that differs significantly from the entry images is disqualified. Artists pay shipping both ways (shipped work in reusable packaging with prepaid return); insurance covers work on gallery premises only, not damage in shipping; work not claimed within 30 days of the exhibition's end becomes Manifest's property. Works may be listed as not for sale; the gallery takes a 30% commission on sales, and sale price and status cannot be changed after the deadline. Awards are subject to revision based on funding circumstances. Exhibition January 22 to February 19, 2027.
