About this call
Narva Art Residency (NART), funded for this project by the Nordic Culture Point, invites five Nordic or Baltic artists to explore borders and border landscapes in Narva, Estonia, a city facing Ivangorod in Russia across the Narva River. Each artist works with one of the five senses (sight, hearing, touch, smell or taste), turning the geopolitical border into a multisensory experience through research, dialogue, experiments and public outcomes. Each residency lasts 10 weeks, in one of five periods across 2027. Besides the grants, NART offers free private accommodation, shared working spaces and kitchen, access to the Kreenholm Manufactory and the Narva Venice Embassy, bicycles and a small boat, production and translation support, help connecting with local communities, mentoring and meetings with visiting experts, and the chance to propose exhibitions in its gallery or lecture at the Estonian Academy of Arts.
