About this call
Learning Materials is a multi-year partner project by Bioart Society, HIAP Helsinki International Artist Programme, Koynẽ Program and TUO TUO, supported by Kone Foundation, that rethinks our relationship with materials. This open call offers a 90-day residency at HIAP Suomenlinna, Helsinki, in spring 2027 (12 April to 11 July) or autumn 2027 (16 August to 14 November), for socially engaged, process-orientated and material-driven practices. The residency focuses on research and experimentation with no designated output; residents work alongside the Learning Materials Fellows and have access to the partners' support, networks and facilities. Conditions include a Kone Foundation working grant of €1,350 per month (€4,050 in total), one return trip from the artist's home, a material budget of up to €750, an access budget of up to €1,000 for disabled artists, visa support, and a residency apartment with shared workspace.
