Dresden Art Prize and Promotion Prizes 2027: Call for Nominations

About this call

The City of Dresden awards an Art Prize every year, along with up to two Promotion Prizes, to outstanding artists, cultural practitioners or initiatives, across all branches of the arts. The Art Prize honours artists, cultural practitioners or ensembles who have or had a focus of their artistic work in Dresden, whose work is of great importance for the city and is recognised beyond the region; it is endowed with EUR 10,000 and a certificate. The Promotion Prizes support the artistic or professional development of artists, cultural practitioners or ensembles, again with a focus on people with a biographical or working connection to Dresden; each carries EUR 5,000 plus a EUR 2,500 stipend from the Hanna Johannes Arras Stiftung. Reasoned written nominations for the following year's prizes are accepted until 31 October on a binding form, and a jury appointed by the Lord Mayor selects the winners. Prize money can be split equally between several recipients, and the jury may decide not to award the Art Prize in a given year or to award it as a further Promotion Prize of EUR 5,000. The prizes are not awarded posthumously, and the Art Prize can go to a person or group only once.

• This is a nomination: written, reasoned proposals are submitted for the following year's prizes; the page names institutions, associations and similar bodies as those who propose artists or artist groups. Use the binding nomination form: it states whether the proposal is for the Art Prize or a Promotion Prize, names the proposer and the nominee with address and contact, and asks for biographical information in bullet points and a justification; the proposer confirms the information is correct and consents to the processing of the personal data. Send the completed form by post to Landeshauptstadt Dresden, Amt für Kultur und Denkmalschutz, Postfach 12 00 20, 01001 Dresden (keyword „Kunst- und Förderpreise“) and, where possible, also by email to kultur-denkmalschutz@dresden.de. The Art Prize honours artists, cultural practitioners or ensembles who have or had a focus of their artistic work in Dresden, whose work is of great importance for the city and is recognised beyond the region; for the Promotion Prizes the focus is also on people or groups with a biographical or working connection to Dresden. Not awarded posthumously; the Art Prize goes to a person or group only once. People employed by the City of Dresden can also receive the prizes. No fee is mentioned.
