About this call

The Catholic Art Institute invites artists worldwide to submit original sacred art for its annual juried online exhibition and physical gallery show. Works must depict Biblical or Ecclesiastical subjects suitable for devotional or liturgical use, demonstrating mastery of the artistic medium and continuity with historical Catholic artistic tradition. The online winners gallery will be published in November 2026; selected works will be exhibited at The Sacred Art Gallery in Mesa, Arizona in February 2027. Eligible media include representational painting, illumination, sculpture, printmaking, drawing, liturgical textiles, stained glass, mosaic, altar furnishings, and devotional objects. Photography, hyperrealism, and AI-generated work are not accepted.

  • Artwork must depict Biblical or Ecclesiastical subjects. Media limited to: representational painting, illumination, sculpture, printmaking, drawing, liturgical textiles, stained glass, mosaic, altar furnishings, and devotional items. Photography, hyperrealism, and computer-generated or AI-submitted work are disqualified. Copies of existing works are excluded unless the copy substantially alters the original. Portrayals of non-canonized persons as saints are not accepted. For the physical gallery show in Mesa, AZ, paintings must not exceed 42 inches (full size limit in T&Cs). Uploaded files must include the artist's name and submission details. Entry fee not stated on the website.
