Napa Lighted Art Festival 2027: Call for Art
About this call
The City of Napa produces the Napa Lighted Art Festival, a free open-air festival of light-based artwork staged across downtown Napa, California. The 2027 edition runs from January 16 to February 14, 2027, with projection works shown on three downtown buildings during the first nine nights. The city is accepting proposals for installations that fit the festival's core concepts of innovative, contemporary, imaginative and uplifting work, with pieces positioned in pedestrian zones next to public and private buildings along the festival route. Artist stipends range from $2,000 to $10,000, or are negotiated, and the festival pays separately for technical lighting equipment and production at each site, though artists must cover installation, deinstallation and insurance of physical or sculptural work in their own budget. A curatorial team of city staff and consultants reviews submissions on a rolling basis for artistic impact, technical feasibility and fit with the overall exhibition, so early applications are encouraged. There is no entry fee, and artists based outside the United States are eligible, with tax paperwork required before contracting. Submissions close on September 1, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. MST, and installation runs from January 6 to January 10, 2027.
