25th Dobell Drawing Prize

About this call

The Dobell Drawing Prize is Australia's premier prize for drawing, celebrating technique, innovation, and expanded practice in the medium. Now in its 25th edition, the prize is administered by the National Art School in Sydney. Entries open on 9 July 2026 and close at 5pm on 14 September 2026. Up to two works may be submitted per artist. Finalists are selected through individual digital review, with approximately 50 chosen for in-person exhibition. Finalists are announced 20 November 2026; the winner is announced 8 April 2027.

Who can apply

• Domestic applicants
• Medium: Drawing
• Entry fee: A$50
• Open to Australian citizens, permanent residents, and holders of an Australian-issued Refugee or Humanitarian Visa. Digital entries required. Up to two artworks may be submitted per application ($50 for one work, $100 for two works). Finalist applicants must cover transport costs for their artworks to and from the National Art School.
