About this call

Now in its 14th year, the Bath Open Art Prize is organised by Fringe Arts Bath, a non-profit run by volunteers. The open call welcomes all visual artists, at any stage of their career, from across the globe, and accepts submissions across all genres and mediums including video, painting, photography, textile, digital, print and 3D. Small installations and performance are also considered. Works selected by the 2026 judges, artist Simbah Pile and gallerist Jemma Hickman, are exhibited at 44AD artspace in central Bath, UK, from 16 to 31 October 2026. Award winners are announced at the prize giving evening on 16 October, and the People's Choice winner on 30 October. Entry fees cover production of the exhibition and help fund FaB's annual visual arts festival, which stays free for visitors.

Who can apply

  • International applicants
  • Medium: Video / Painting / Photography / Textile / New Media / Printmaking / Sculpture / Installation / Performance
  • Entry fee: £22
  • Submit through the online submission form by 23h59 on Sunday 13 September 2026. Fee is 22 GBP for one artwork or 33 GBP for up to three. All works submitted must be original works by the named artist. Selection results are announced on 27 September; accepted works must be delivered to the venue on 11 and 12 October. The artist is responsible for transportation to and from the venue and for insuring their own works. All works must arrive ready for hanging: unframed canvases may hang on the stretcher, framed works need D-rings and string, and videos are submitted as a link with the file sent if selected. Very large works may not be displayable. Copyright remains with the artist. A 20 percent commission is taken on all sales, split between the venue and Fringe Arts Bath.
