About this call
Carter Burden Gallery in Chelsea is putting together a blind juried show built entirely around work at intimate scale. Two dimensional pieces including the frame must stay between 5 and 15 inches in any direction, and three dimensional pedestal work must stay under 10 inches and 50 pounds. The premise is that meaning, beauty and emotional weight do not need size to land, and the gallery leans on the Midsummer Night's Dream line about being little but fierce to make the point. Beth Barry and Veronica Lawlor are jurying. The gallery's wider mission is championing professional artists over 60, and while this call is open to any US based artist aged 18 and over, it says plainly that it particularly encourages artists over 60. There are no cash prizes, but the gallery takes no commission at all on sales, which is unusual for a Chelsea space. The show runs 19 November to 16 December 2026 with an opening reception on the first evening, and the entry fee is 45 dollars for up to five works.
