About this call

STEPS Public Art and the Municipality of North Perth invite Canadian professional artists, including artist teams, to submit their interest and qualifications for two permanent public artworks. The works will be installed in outdoor public spaces in the communities of Monkton and Gowanstown, Ontario, at 200 Nelson St in Monkton and at the corner of Line 88 and Road 164 in Gowanstown. The preference is for durable sculptural artworks that invite interaction and engagement. One artist or artist team will be commissioned for both sites at $25,000 CAD per site, a combined budget of $50,000 CAD that covers design, fabrication, shipping, installation, engineering, insurance, permits and travel. Shortlisted artists advancing to stage two are paid a $1,000 CAD honorarium, inclusive of HST, to develop a design concept. Artists from Ontario or with a connection to Ontario and North Perth are strongly encouraged to apply. This first stage is a request for qualifications and closes August 3, 2026 at 11:59 PM ET.
