Jeunes-Rives Artistic Intervention Competition, Neuchâtel
About this call
The Ville de Neuchâtel is the client for an artistic intervention marking the redevelopment of the Jeunes-Rives lakefront, sectors 1 and 2, a roughly 70,000 square metre urban park linking the city to Lake Neuchâtel. The Service de la culture is running the competition under the city's cultural percent scheme, working with the urbanism service and the public space projects office. The selection is a two-phase procedure: phase 1 shortlists four to five artists or artist groups on portfolio, and phase 2 asks them to develop a preliminary project. The total budget is CHF 175'000.- TTC, covering design, execution and fees, and each artist or group retained for phase 2 receives an indemnity of CHF 2'500.- TTC. The call is open to all artists, and artist groups are permitted and strongly encouraged. All forms and media are eligible, though the client favours a mobile or temporary intervention such as a performance, an artistic programme, a mobile work, or a use of the new multipurpose urban stage. Phase 1 dossiers are due by 5 p.m. on 20 August 2026, with phase 2 projects handed in on 17 December 2026 and the park inauguration planned for July 2027.
