LOWE! Commissions: Art Weekend in North Shields Cultural Quarter
About this call
LOWE! offers seven new commissions for artists and creatives to create new and original site-responsive work for a new Art Weekend in North Shields Cultural Quarter, a long weekend of creative activity across the town centre in March 2027. Artists are invited to explore the theme of illumination through light, storytelling, participation, place, memory, or visibility, across three strands: Moving Light, Urban Illumination, and Social Spotlight. Applications are welcomed from individuals, collectives, and collaborative teams at all stages of their careers. LOWE! particularly encourages applications from disabled, D/deaf, neurodivergent, LGBTQ+, and working-class artists, and those from racially and ethnically marginalised communities. Commission budgets are Glow x2 at 6,000 GBP, Ember x2 at 3,000 GBP, and Sparkle x3 at 1,000 GBP.
