About this call

Valkarie Gallery is giving its South Gallery over to drawing and mark making this autumn. Linear Entanglements asks what happens when lines pile up, cross and tangle, and it welcomes layering, collage and bursts of color as part of that process. Color is optional; monochrome and limited palette work focused on line and layering are equally in scope. Both realist and abstract approaches are wanted, from quick gestural sketches to detailed representation to ambitious mixed media. Denver artists Jamie Zerr Lockwood and Jane Falkenberg jury the submissions blind. Entry is 35 dollars for up to three original pieces, with a 36 inch size cap and no AI generated work accepted. The exhibition runs September 10 to October 4, 2026 in Lakewood, with an opening reception on September 12 and a closing reception on the final day. Sold work carries a 30 percent commission and stays on the wall until the show closes.
