About this call

The Center for Contemporary Arts in downtown Abilene has run CCAN for a decade, and the tenth edition is open to any United States artist aged 18 or over. Work must be original and made within the last three years, and the image submitted has to be the exact piece that ships if selected. Eleven categories cover oil, watercolor, pastel and dry media, acrylic, collage and mixed media, photography, non-photographic digital work, printmaking, fiber and textiles, sculpture and functional ceramics. Video and mural work are the two exclusions. Entry is 35 dollars for the first image and 20 dollars for each additional one, capped at three. Dallas glass artist Carlyn Ray juries the show and more than 7,000 dollars is awarded each year, including 500 dollars for first place in every category, a 750 dollar juror's award and 1,000 dollars for best in show. Accepted work must reach the Center by September 21, 2026 and the exhibition runs October 10 to November 21. Sales are split 80 percent to the artist and 20 percent to the Center.
