Louisiana's Percent for Art program is looking for an artist or team to make a permanent interior artwork for the new School of Nursing and Allied Health building at Southern University at New Orleans, a historically Black university in the Gentilly neighborhood. The selection committee wants work that speaks to resilience, healing, community, leadership and healthcare equity, and that honors the contributions of Black nurses and healthcare workers in Louisiana and New Orleans. Likely locations include the main lobby, student gathering areas, lecture spaces and circulation corridors, and a two-story volume above the social stair could carry a suspended piece. Wall-mounted, suspended and three-dimensional proposals are all welcome and a wide range of media will be considered. The budget is 40,000 dollars covering artist fees, design, fabrication, materials, transport, installation and insurance. This is a request for qualifications, so no proposal is needed yet; applicants send a resume, a one page letter of interest, three references and 5 to 10 images of finished work. Shortlisted artists receive a 500 dollar honorarium toward proposal development and may be asked to attend a site visit and present to the committee. Eligibility is limited to professional artists living in Louisiana's Region 1.
