Nakanojo Biennale 2027 - Artist Open Call

About this call

The 11th Nakanojo Biennale invites artists and collectives from Japan and abroad to propose innovative, site-responsive projects for its 2027 edition under the theme "The Echoing Green," reflecting the cycles of life across Nakanojo. The biennale runs September 18 to October 24, 2027 across 37 days, transforming disused schools, shopping streets, historic buildings, hot-spring districts and rural landscapes in Nakanojo, Gunma Prefecture into exhibition spaces. Selected artists will receive a production grant to support their work and are expected to live and create on-site during the festival period.
