About this call
Les Rencontres d'Arles invites organizations that support emerging artists (galleries, art centres, non-profit and independent spaces, public institutions) to propose an exhibition project by one artist using photography whose work has recently been discovered. Selected projects are exhibited in the Prix Découverte exhibition at the 58th edition of the festival in Arles, France, from July to October 2027, with guest curator Yining He. During opening week a jury awards EUR 15,000, and a public vote awards EUR 5,000, each as an acquisition of works for the Rencontres d'Arles collection, rewarding the artist and the organization. Each selected project gets about 10 linear metres (about 50 m²) of exhibition space. The festival provides a EUR 3,000 production budget, scenography, installation, insurance during the exhibition, and the artist's travel and two nights' lodging in Arles during opening week. This year's curatorial text, L'œil génératif, asks which condition of today's visual production a practice responds to.
