About this call

The Netherland-America Foundation funds professional artistic and cultural projects that demonstrate a clear exchange between Dutch and American artists, institutions, or audiences, such as exhibitions, performances or other cultural initiatives that promote dialogue and collaboration between the Netherlands and the United States. Both emerging artists and established organizations may apply. The Cultural Committee meets four times a year; submissions sent between August 2 and November 1 receive results in mid-December. Applicants may send an optional one-page letter of intent or a full application with a cover letter and a budget in English.

Who can apply

  • Open to applicants of any nationality
  • Medium: Mixed Media
  • Entry fee: See official site
  • Applicants must be working professionals or institutions in the cultural sector. The project must show a clear Dutch and American exchange, or it is not forwarded to the committee. Not supported: funds to attend a seminar, tuition for a degree program, residencies or research. Applications must be submitted at least six months before the project start date; projects already underway or completed are not eligible. Previous grantees should wait three years before re-applying. A full application, in English, includes a cover letter (1 to 2 pages: project summary, amount requested, timeline, performance dates, background of key participants), a one-page itemized budget in U.S. dollars (other funding sources and what the NAF grant will cover), optional letters of support, and photos or videos if relevant. A letter of intent is optional and recommended for projects at least nine months away. Grantees must credit the NAF with its logo and submit a final report within three months of the grant's completion, with video and photo material for the NAF's promotional use; without it, no new application is considered. Deadlines: February 1, May 1, August 1 and November 1.
