About this call
The 10th Getxophoto Open Call invites visual artists and photographers from around the world to exhibit at the 21st edition of the Getxophoto Festival in Getxo, Basque Country, Spain, from May 27 to June 20, 2027. The theme is Tide, and the call seeks image-making projects (photography, video, actions, installations, digital art or other visual practices) that engage with collective currents: work that makes visible what had remained hidden, unsettles what seemed fixed, transforms memory or envisions new connections and forms of collective resistance. A jury of Monica Allende, John Fleetwood, Victoria Ismach and Cale Garrido will select 12 finalists and 3 winners, judging artistic criteria, conceptual development and relevance to the theme, with gender parity and inclusion also taken into account. Most of the festival is made up of open-air installations. Projects can be submitted in English or Spanish via Picter; the shortlist is announced on November 26 and results on November 30, 2026.
