About this call

Latcham Art Centre, a public gallery in Whitchurch-Stouffville (Stouffville), Ontario, Canada, is looking for photo-based artists interested in tattoos and body art for a yearlong, community-centred project that collects images and stories about people and their tattoos, and the communities formed around tattoo artists and their studios. It invites photographers, videographers and tattoo artists who represent a range of styles and practices, want to collaborate with community members on a new body of work, and express the storytelling capacity of photography and tattooing; artists new to tattooing as a subject are welcome alongside photographers whose portfolios already engage with it. During the project Latcham will organize onsite photo sessions with community members and tattoo artists, and will work with the selected artists on a photo-based exhibition. Artists are notified by November 15, 2026; the community collaboration and production phase runs January to May 2027, installation is in July 2027 and the exhibition runs August to October 2027.
