About this call

The Bennett Prize is administered by the Muskegon Museum of Art and awards $75,000 to a woman painter to create her own solo exhibition of figurative realist paintings. Entries must be traditional paintings, defined as paint upon a two-dimensional surface, depicting figurative representations completed within the past five years. Watercolor, gouache and pastel qualify, and mixed media is acceptable when paint is the primary material. Applicants submit three to five paintings plus one detail image with a $50 non-refundable entry fee.

  • Open to women eighteen (18) years or older, including trans and cis women and nonbinary people, who reside at least part-time in the United States and maintain an active studio practice. U.S. citizenship is not required. Applicants must not be full- or part-time students from the close of entries through the winner announcement, and are ineligible if they have received a prior grant or award of $35,000 or more, or sold any single work for $35,000 or more.
