About this call

MiCROFiLM is a call for projects run by the Liege-based animation studio Camera-etc to support the making of first or second animation films of roughly two minutes. Around thirty short films have been produced since the first edition in 2017. Applicants submit a dossier by email; a first pass is made by the Camera-etc producer on the basis of compliance with the practical requirements and consistency with the purpose of the call, and a second pass is made by an internal jury of two animator-directors, an audiovisual technician, the Camera-etc producer, and a distribution and communication officer. The jury weighs the narrative and visual originality of the project, its technical feasibility within the time and framework available, and how much Camera-etc's support can add to it. Projects may be fiction, documentary, music video, or experimental film, and must be entirely or mostly animated. Series pilots and episodes are not eligible, nor are commercial or promotional films.

Who can apply

  • Domestic applicants
  • Medium: Video
  • Entry fee: See official site
  • The project must be carried by an author of Belgian nationality or a Belgian resident of at least five years; the applicant does not need to come from an art school. It must be a first or second work outside of student films, two minutes long excluding credits, and entirely or mostly made in animation. Fiction, documentary, music video and experimental film are all accepted, but series pilots or episodes are not eligible, nor are commercial or promotional films. The soundtrack may be in a foreign language, but the application dossier must be written in French, and the author then consents to the film being subtitled. Applying implies reading and accepting the regulations. Dossiers must be sent by September 13, 2026 at the latest, by email to info@camera-etc.be, and must contain a CV with contact details, email and phone (max 2 pages), a synopsis or project summary (max 1 page), a note of intent covering motivations, wishes, the chosen animation technique and sound intentions (max 2 pages), and graphic research such as characters, sets or a moodboard, and/or references and sources of inspiration.
