About this call

Anonymous Drawings is a long running exhibition project conceived and realised by the artist and curator Anke Becker. It asks how judgement changes when nothing is known about the name or origin of the maker, and how the value of a drawing is decided when every work carries the same price. The 2027 edition presents around 600 drawings by 600 international artists at ZAK, Zentrum fuer Aktuelle Kunst in the Zitadelle Spandau, Berlin, with neither names nor titles disclosed. Every drawing is offered at a uniform symbolic price of 250 euro, which stands in as a conceptual placeholder for any price the art market might set. Anonymity holds until a drawing sells. Once a work is bought it comes off the wall and the artist's name and place of origin are written in its place, so the exhibition rewrites itself over its run and becomes a processual work in its own right. Selection is made solely from anonymised image files, with no biographical information involved, and participation is free of charge and open to everyone.
