Alaska Arts and Culture Foundation 2026 Alaska Literary Awards
About this call
The Alaska Literary Awards recognize and support writers of poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, playwriting, screenwriting and mixed genres. They were established in 2014 by the Alaska Arts and Culture Foundation through a gift from Peggy Shumaker and Joe Usibelli, and the program is administered by the Alaska State Council on the Arts. A select number of $5,000 awards are given annually; the 2025 round went to four Alaska writers. There are no restrictions on how a recipient uses the award and no formal report is required. Any Alaska writer over the age of 18 who is not a full-time student may apply, and quality of the work submitted is the primary consideration in determining who receives the awards. Applicants submit through the CaFE system with a resume and work samples. The deadline is August 17, 2026 at 9:59PM Alaska Time.
