James Renwick Alliance Chrysalis Award for Emerging Ceramics Artists
About this call
The James Renwick Alliance for Craft annually presents the Chrysalis Award to recognize and support an emerging artist working in ceramics. The 2026 award carries a $5,000 unrestricted prize, a one-year JRACraft membership, and an invitation to present work at a JRACraft event. Applicants must be US-based artists who have completed their training within the past five years, whether through a four-year degree, residencies, workshops, or apprenticeships. Eligible candidates submit five images of work completed within the past three years along with application questions, evaluated on criteria including maker skill, material use, design refinement, originality, and cultural significance. The application is free of charge. Artists who have been curated into major museum exhibitions such as the Renwick Gallery outside of open calls are not eligible.
