About this call
Franklin Furnace's annual XENO Prize for Artists' Books offers $5,000 to support the publication of a new artist's book addressing the topic of book banning and burning. The 2026 open call runs from March 1 through July 4, 2026, welcoming proposals from artists over the age of 18 across all disciplines worldwide. Named in honor of xenophiles, people who appreciate all people and cultures, the XENO Prize celebrates artistic freedom and the power of the printed object. An independent artist jury will select the winner, with the award announced in September 2026. Winners receive funding to produce an edition of at least 100 copies of their proposed book. Submissions are made through Franklin Furnace's Submittable portal.
